Coincidence or Not…Decide For Yourself!

Attitude is a behavioral trait describing tendency or orientation, especially of one’s mind. It is a very powerful concept that governs the thoughts and actions of individuals. Many things can influence a person’s attitude. However, an individual’s attitude is completely within his or her control.

Attitude and success go hand in hand. Success is an interesting notion. In order to obtain success one has to be unsuccessful a number of times. During the times of failure, one’s attitude is the determining factor as to whether or not the person will accomplish the goal.

There are numerous qualities that aid in movement toward success. For instance, creativity, knowledge, and intelligence are very helpful things to possess when attempting to be fruitful. Leonardo da Vinci wasn’t well educated as a child. He apprenticed for a time in his young adult life. Da Vinci began his career by not completing his first two commissioned artistic works.

Later, he requested a position in military engineering. He was a major part of the Renaissance movement and was a very successful man. His ingenuity and artistic ability allowed him a place in history. Though da Vinci was very intelligent, creative, and knowledgeable, the world would be a very different place if Leonardo had just stopped contributing to creation after his first two unsuccessful commissions. If it hadn’t been for his attitude, we may not have seen his renderings of human anatomy, religious scenes, or his many engineering insights pictured in the compilation below.

In a recent movie, Joy, the notion that a person’s attitude directly impacts their success is expressed. Time and time again, Joy is propelled into success by her attitude. She failed numerous times and spent thousands of dollars that she didn’t have. In some instances, Joy was held back from her goals by her family. She was forced to sit by and watch as an inept salesman poorly marketed her invention, leaving her with absolutely no product sales. At every turn, Joy demonstrated how powerful attitude is to success.

One’s attitude, or gumption, is the deciding factor regarding the achievement on both a personal and professional level. She never gave up, even though she failed time after time. Joy always had the attitude that she would succeed and that there was no other option.

Why am I telling you all this?

A prosperous business hinges on the attitude of the people who perform the necessary tasks required on a day-to-day basis. A company may consist of one person or of many people. Those that make up a business may retain qualities like discipline, integrity, and the ability to work as a team player.

Though all of the aforementioned qualities are definitely sought after, they don’t amount to much without a great attitude. The interesting thing about a company is that it conforms to the people that it is comprised of. If the people who work together in a business have great attitudes, there won’t be a storm that the company can’t weather. Prosperity will be attained over and over. The individuals at the company will achieve much.

The point here is that, if the company conforms to the attitude that it simply will not accept defeat; then it won’t. If the business is made up of people who don’t have the type of attitude that allows them to get back up and brush themselves off, the business will fall victim to failure.

Please look through the following scenario and contemplate letters in correlation to a numerical value.

If the letters are each assigned as ascending numerical value:

Then these words have a numerical the following values:

K+N+O+W+L+E+D+G+E (11+14+15+23+12+5+4+7+5) = 96%

H+A+R+D+W+O+R+K (8+1+18+4+23+15+18+11) = 98%

Both of these attributes are very important. However, they both fall just short of 100%.

A+T+T+I+T+U+D+E (1+20+20+9+20+21+4+5) = 100%!!!

Is this just coincidence, I think not!!

In short; attitude is the ability and drive to pick yourself up after falling down. In general, it takes practice to be successful at something.

Practice, by the very nature of the word, necessitates disappointment. Anything from playing baseball to building a house requires numerous failures. There are innumerable options for frustrations every day. It takes the appropriate attitude fueled by other key qualities to see past the failures. Attitude is what causes the desire to succeed where others have failed. In personal failure, attitude is the only thing that grants a person the ability to try again. Attitude is what transforms a failure into a mere stepping stone on the path to success.
