35th Anniversary BCMC 2015 Follow-Up Thoughts (Milwaukee, WI)

What an amazing turnout at the industry’s premier trade show, the Building Component Manufacturers Conference (BCMC). Milwaukee, WI was the host city this year for this annual event’s 35th anniversary. As predicted in our articles earlier this month, the BCMC show was a HUGE success. The attendance was even better than last year, which was in itself phenomenal:

  • 1174 attendees
  • 155 exhibitors

The BCMC Build was a dynamite event as always. Framing the American Dream (FAD) partnered with Operation FINALLY HOME (OFH) to provide our industry valuable data collection for FAD to use for efficiency and measurement. This year, 2 homes were constructed side-by-side by Tim O’Brien Homes and Belman Homes. One was constructed using conventional methods and the other used building components. These 2 builders worked with BCMC Build to construct two homes on adjacent lots. Then, OFH chose 2 different families to be the recipients of these mortgage-free homes, helping to be funded by the sponsors of this event. Some notable mentions:

  • Real estate developer, Mark Neumann of Neumann Companies donated two lots
  • JJ Kennedy of Somerset Home Planning was the architect
  • Bob Baur of Esquire Carpentry, Inc. provided framing labor
  • Tim Perrin of Perrin Carpentry Contractor, Inc. also provided framing labor
  • Eli Bliffert of Bliffert Lumber & Hardware donated materials

One of this year’s recipients was overjoyed and shared some very, very nice words reflecting his gratitude. How lucky was I to be a part of that memorable experience. The committee did an amazing job putting everything together. It was an impressive sight indeed.

Traffic to GDI’s booth was non-stop. We exceeded last year’s record-breaking traffic by 20%! The 3 of us barely had time to breathe! We forged many new relationships this year and also strengthened many existing ones. Thank you to everyone who stopped by booth # 724!

In talking with other exhibitors, there was much optimism from everyone on the show floor. It was great to hear that everyone felt that BCMC 2015 was a success. There sure was a multitude of enthusiasm from the attendees. I was excited to see some of the new products that were displayed, as well of some of the incredible software advancements.

The best part for me personally, was to meet some of my existing and potential clients and build the relationship further. Some of these folks I have spoken with many times over the years, but never have had the opportunity to shake their hand. I want to thank everyone who came by our booth to visit with us.

Don’t gamble with your growth, let GDI be your ace in the hole!

See you next year in Knoxville, TN!
